Entry Deadline Is January 3, 2007 For America's Largest Dog Show

New York, NY (PRWeb) December 30, 2006 -- Dog Show USA, America's holiday on-line competition open to mutts and purebreds alike will be accepting new entries until January 3, 2007, at 3 p.m. E.T. Only at DogShowUSA.com can every dog and dog owner in the country join the fun and the competition, as thousands of canines go for 'Best in Show.'

"This is a dog show for all dogs and dog lovers," said John O'Hurley the author of 'It's Ok to Miss the Bed on the First Jump and Other Life Lessons I Learned from Dogs,' and TV personality (Seinfeld, Dancing with the Stars and The National Dog Show Presented By Purina), who is also a blue ribbon panel judge for Dog Show USA. "Unlike a traditional dog show where there is a breed standard to compare to, Dog Show USA is based on what dog makes America smile, and I know that my dogs, Scoshi and Betty, put a smile on my face every single day. The problem is so far all of the contestants have been making us smile, so the competition is very tough."

Dog Show USA Presented by Purina, hosts competition in 11 categories, including:

Representation of Breed:
• Sporting Group
• Hound Group
• Working Group
• Terrier Group
• Toy Group
• Non-Sporting Group
• Herding Group
• Mixed Breed

Humorous Appeal:
• Cutest Dog
• Dog Owner Look Alike
• Best Dog Trick

Prizes for this year's show are comprised of a year supply of Purina Dog Chow, a trip to the National Dog Show Presented by Purina and other items.

Starting January 4, 2007, the blue ribbon panel judges, O'Hurley and the dean of dog show commentators, David Frei, will select 10 finalists from each category. Once these lucky canines are determined, America will vote online.

Dog Show USA winners will be announced online on Monday February 26, at the Chicago Dog Show. The winner will also be featured on-air during an NBC SportsDesk broadcast on March 3, 2007.
